The coast of Western Puerto Rico includes towns from Quebradillas to Cabo Rojo. In between is Isabela, Aguadilla, Aguada, Rincon, Anasco and Mayaguez. Each town has its own charms and characteristics to lets look a little deeper.
Quebradillas is just east of Isabela and has some incredible cliffside oceanfront properties. There are dramatic views and sunsets as well as some very nice neighborhoods and homes. Quebradillas is also home of one of the 20 designated forest reserves in Puerto Rico, Lago Guajatica and Guajatica Beach.
Isabela is another oceanfront town with dramitic cliffside homes and views as well as beautiful beaches and great surfing. Its most famous beach is Jobos, a bay shaped bowl that draws surfers from all over and is the heart of the surfing community in Isabela. Great restaurants dot the coast as well as funky guest houses. Isablea is not short on condominiums, there are several large beachfront developments witha a constant inventory of units that are on the market. Also enjoy the long bike trail and easy access to BQN airport.
Aguadilla is the heart of the West Coast as it is the home of the Boqueron Airport serviced by Jet Blue, United and Spirit air with flights to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, New York and New Jersey. Aguadilla is also home to fantastic beaches and nice redone beachfront boardwalk. Ramey base is a popular real estate area with large flat lots and concrete homes. There are also a few oceanview condominium complexes in Aguadilla as well as planned urban communities.
Aguada is the sleepy beach town, full of locals and the town no one wants you to know about….Great surfing, great oceanfront bars and restaurants, beautiful hillside homes and oceanfront properties, Aguada is a unique town with plenty of potential!
Rincon is the jewel of the west coast but property values reflect that. Because of the great surfing and organic community that has risen from over 30 years of north american influence, Rincon has grown to almost mythic proportions. But homes can still be found at values and the condominiums are very affordable. Land in the Puntas neighborhood has become expensive, but look further inland in the hills and you will find value.
Anasco is just south of Rincon and has a nice beach and some beautiful areas inland above its great river, the Rio Anasco. For those seeking large lots of land and hillsides, Anasco might just be the place.
Mayaguez is a big city, anchored by the university and the Medalla beer bottling plant, the town has been hurt by the movement away of some large industries, but there are beautiful residences on the hillside and large farms in the interior. Many great neighborhoods, still close to the coast.
Cabo Rojo, while far from most airports, offer incredible scenery. It is the heart of the boating community on the West with 2 marinas and plenty of support for fishermen. There are also large rural areas with grazing and coastlines with the amazing Boqueron Bay and La Parguera. Real estate is well priced with some homes under $100,000 and condominiums near the beach for low $100s.
